Pape Diouf is in the Emirates…
By: Magnusson | September 23rd, 2007
President Pape Diouf has apparently left Marseille this morning to fly to the Emirates to meet with Bruno Metsu who is the coach of the Emirates National Team. Pape Diouf gave several interviews this morning claiming that nothing had been decided yet concerning coach Albert Emon’s future. He although declared that people could expect a whole new outlook and team spirit in two weeks at Anfield.
Nothing has been confirmed yet but it seems Albert Emon’s is living his last minutes at the helm of out team. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Bruno Metsu is not a manager good enough to make us win anything. I don’t particularly like sounding like Bernard Lacombe, and even if marseille hasn’t looked like a Formula 1 in long time, this guy can’t drive this team. He did succeed in building a senegalese team at his image that did pretty fantastic during the 2002 World Cup but he showed his limits during that quarterfinal.
I don’t like following these rumors in general but this information seems legit. This also is contrary to every piece of information that filtered lately stating that Robert Louis-Dreyfus wanted an internal solution. Jose Anigo, who’s been Emon’s friend for a long time has refused, for now, to be Judas in this situation. The discretion and the apparent calm that is still prevailing at the Commanderie help us cope with this situation though.
Let’s wait and see which coach will be at the Commanderie on tuesday morning.

You know what’s sad? When clubs like ours find even Didier Deschamps out of our reach due to not trusting our managers. Forget Mourinho and Lippi, who wouldn’t come even if we could top other salary offers. L1 is so handicapped.

Maybe Metsu will bring Ishmael Mattar with him from the Emirates. Great player.

And who would you bench? Nasri or Ziani.
Matatr is good but he’s already hyped up in his country. Why would he leave that comfort for a second rate european club who is not a power anymore.Posted from

I would take him over Ziani. And it doesn’t matter that he is ultra hyped in the Emirates, he will still play for the national team. However, he may be willing to follow Metsu who he has a good relationship with to a club who’s name still carries much weight around the world.

The new coach is Eric Gerets.
Diouf could have (and should have) done better.
