Matt Moussilou may be headed to Qatar…

By: Magnusson | November 9th, 2007

moussilou.JPGMatt Moussilou who was supposed another offensive threat in our team and the numeric replacement of Mickaël Pagis may be going on loan to Qatar as soon as this december since he hasn’t played once under Eric Gerets who has not seemed very impressed with his playing skills. He’s been seen playing with his iPod this wednesday at Porto on French TV and didn’t look that phazed by his non participation to the game. Moussilou is another example of “You should never be recruiting in a hurry”. He was our first mistake and should have never come to Marseille in the first place. At age 25, his career could be prematurily over for someone who showed a lot of possibilities a long time ago. José Anigo showed us here how the people who went and found Franck Ribery and Daniel Van Buyten are the ones that recruited Christian Gimenez and Adriano (not the Imperator, another “brazilian phenomenon” you non marseille fans have never heard of, and should be thankful you didn’t). Before this deal comes to fruitionthough , Nice, who still owns Moussilou must be in on the deal.
Like a friend of mine said last week, “when it was time to recruit strikers at Nice, Bordeaux chose Bellion and Marseille picked Moussilou”. That kinda sums up the season we are having.

Gimenez ha ha ha what a joke ! Sad for Moussilou if he will stop his career at 25(Quatar…) Plus he couldn’t play for Congo(4 caps with french Espoirs). Marseille like Paris should choose players very strong psychologically. It’s harder to manage something at Marseille or Paris, too much pressure.
These clubs haven’t got sufficient money to buy very srong players so they buy good players who could be very good in all others clubs but who collapse and can’t stand the pressure on them when they are in Marseille. May be these club should have more money or their fans should understand the golden age is over and don’t expect impossible from their players.

    Yo you know what?
Christian Gimenez was actually good. he was elected player of the year at herta BERLIN when he left us. He scored like 15 goals or something and passed a lot.
What we need to do is take young unknowns and let them play. Marseillais are always kinder to young players who will fight for the club. What they don’t like is anything that looks like Prima Donna attitude.
But both paris and marseille have had wonderful fans this year. If what happened last year and this year at paris or marseille happened four or five years ago, I think there would have been riots in both cities.
