Zidane: “Nasri should stay”…

As the special guest of Luis Fernandez’s show on RMC, Zinédine Zidane was of course asked about his opinion on a bunch of stuff on thursday. Obviously, as the icon of french football, hi advice is seekd by a lot of these players and Luis Fernandez couldn’t help but ask him if he advised Samir Nasri to leave marseille for Arsenal. Which he immediatly denied, going even futher and saying that he would have preferred him to go the same route as Karim Benzema:
“He maybe should have stayed one more year. I would have personnally preferred to see him play a little more at Mrseille. But I guess this season was very hard for him. Anyways, Samir would have eventually needed to leave and discover a new club.”
Zidane, who left Bordeaux when he was just 24 for Juventus didn’t want to voice an opinion on Arsenal and some of their methods but said that everything laid on the player who chooses to leave and took for example Karim Benzema:
“Is it the good choice to leave this early in one’s career? I don’t believe so. Benzema, for example is obviously doing the right thing by staying one more year at least in France.”
In the rest of the interview, Zizou revealed that Luis Fernandez tried to get him to come with him at Paris after having coached him a little in Cannes. But Zidane, as any self-respecting Marseillais decided against it and went to Bordeaux. You can listen to the whole interview here.
