What do you mean Samir’s not gone yet?
By: Magnusson | May 21st, 2008
While we were already mourning Samir Nasri’s memory at Marseille, his agent, Jean-Pierre Bernès, has come out pretty vehemently this afternoon to make sure everyone heard that Samir Nasri was still a Marseille player and had not decided anything yet. Bernès, who used to be Bernard Tapie’s right hand man in the darkest hours of our history became an agent in the late nineties with players like Zinédine Zidane as clients.
So Jean-Pierre Bernès came out and said that if they had indeed received an offer from Arsenal that was immediatly transmitted to the Commanderie and then leaked to la Provence and L”Equipe. What he came out saying basically is that Samir was too busy getting his things in order before going to Clairefontaine this afternoon to actually negociate himself with Arsenal. Bernès reminded everyone that he had more than four offers and that he has Carte Blanche to negociate on his behalf.
Now I can understand this. My guess is that Marseille was already happy with the Wenger offer and that Samir and his people must want more money for him. That’s the only reason why I would come out as violently as my client was headed to a bunker for the next month. Sending a signal to Arsène that couldn’t be any clearer”Give me more Dough!”.
In any case, this shouldn’t create any type of hope of ever seeing Samir in a white and blue jersey ever again. We are still just a few hours away from beign done. Nasri knows Domenech hates players not settled on their futures and is sending him a strong message by closing all his deals and negociations before the rest of the 30-man team gets to Clairefontaine.

do you think this is a bit like the ribery saga?
after ribery stating he would stay if we could play CL football the next season, he decides to leave for a team that doesn’t even have CL football….
