By: Magnusson | January 10th, 2008
So Taye Taïwo and a some of his teammates left for their respective selections and are now preparig the Afrcan Cup of Nations that will start Sunday December 20th with the Ghana-Guinea confrontation. On that game Inara from the Lyon Offside will keep you posted if you head to our sister site The World Cup Blog where she’s been writing about the Black Stars for a few days now and where I’ll also be blogging for Senegal. Here is the situation on our palyers and what they have been up to lately.
Mamadou Niang - (SENEGAL) The senegalese Player of the Year has already landed in Dakar where he’ll be training twice daily with his selection until the 14th. Two friendlies have been scheduled, one against Namibia on the 12th and another against Benin on the 16th. The Lions will leave Dakar on the 17th.
Modeste M’bami -(CAMEROON) The cameroonian midfielder arrived in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso on Sunday and will stay there with the Lions Indomptables until the 14th. Two friendlies against Burkina faso have been scheduled on the 9th and on the 12th. The Cameroon staff still haven’t unveiled their list so we don’t know if Modeste will be part of their squad.
Taye Taïwo - (NIGERIA) He’s covering one of Africa’s most prominent publications when it comes to the beautiful game, Kick Off, alongside his compatriots John Utaka and Danny Shittu as Nigeria are set on taking what they haven’t won since 1994 (Sidebar, I need to start working out). The nigerian team still has not been communicated. And I don’t know thier schedule either.
Andre Ayew -(GHANA) The Ghana list will be unveiled today. Claude Leroy picked 40 players at first and trimmed the squad to 28 players and Dédé might not make it today. We’ll see. All we know is that they’re in Dubai preparing for “their” ACN in a commando mannor with no communication with the press and full-on pressure. The bunker attitude is back.
