Derby du Sud…

Where the hell have I been? Lets just say the recent storm that hit New York City and it’s surrounding areas was not kind to me. That being said in my absence we have seen Marseille capitalize domestically and see heartbreak on the European stage. Sounds all to familiar I was able to see the Monchengladbach match and that late goal hurt almost as bad as the one Arsenal got during their visit to the Velodrome last year. It’s now really a must win situation when Fenerbahce visits on the 22nd as I just done see AEL getting the upset especially in the role as the visiting team! Lets however get into our little southern derby with coastal neighbors OGC Nice.

There is no denying that our form has been shaky as of late. Despite this we still find ourselves tied with PSG point wise and we also have that game in hand to boot. Our match with Nice is literally the perfect opportunity to make right with our embarrassment to Troyes. Nice believe it or not have yet to win on the road and in our past 18 meetings with them we’ve won 17 not to shabby eh?

With Gignac still coping with his fractured metatarsal, we are probably going to see Loic Remy take front and center against his club. Likewise a former OM player will be making his return – remember Renato Civelli? Since leaving OM he spent a season back in his native Argentina before becoming an integral part of Les Aiglons defense. It will be interesting to see if the fans will give him a little bit of extra applause.

Saint Etienne have done us a huge favor last week and perhaps under performing Montpellier can do the same. Minus Gignac and the suspended Joey Barton, Baup has a full squad at his disposal and that of course includes Diawara! Lets keep this Derby a one sided affair and retain our unbeaten streak at home!
