Domenech calls Carrasso up…
By: Magnusson | February 5th, 2009
In some kind of twist this morning, Raymond Domenech called our ex-goalkeeper and new Toulouse wall, Cedric carasso to the National Team. I couldn’t be any happier. Cedric Carasso never had a chance once Mandanda stepped into his shoes an left after a long injury. We’re proud of the Marseille product. Good luck to him and I hope he gets to stay in the NT.
Here’s the list:
Keepers: Hugo Lloris (Lyon), Steve Mandanda (Olympique de Marseille), Cédric Carasso (Toulouse).
Defenders: Eric Abidal (Barcelone/ESP), Gaël Clichy (Arsenal/ENG), Julien Escudé (FC Séville/ESP), Rod Fanni (Rennes), William Gallas (Arsenal/ENG), Philippe Mexès (AS Rome/ITA), Bacary Sagna (Arsenal/ENG), Sébastien Squilacci (FC Séville/ESP)
Midfielders: Alou Diarra (Bordeaux), Lassana Diarra (Real Madrid), Yoann Gourcuff (Bordeaux), Samir Nasri (Arsenal/ENG), Jérémy Toulalan (Lyon)
Strikerss: Nicolas Anelka (Chelsea/ENG), Karim Benzema (Lyon), Jimmy Briand (Rennes), Thierry Henry (Barcelone/ESP), Franck Ribéry (Bayern Munich/GER).
On that note, I’m back to the books.

He’d better use two central defenders for the Argentina friendly. I’m not even playing… We all know what Dugarry said on Canal plus Monday.

Magnusson, could you help me with something please? Who is ultimately responsible for the players that we decide to buy? I am watching the game against Bordeaux and cannot believe we have wasted €6m on yet another completely useless and ineffectual striker, this time in the form of Brandao. Did no-one learn any lessons from the waste of money that is Samassa? Do we blame Gerets, Anigo or Diouf for the latest poor choice of striker? I’m starting to think that RL-D’s recent comments were right. Someone needs to take the blame this time.

When does Mamadou Niang get back? Is his injury worse than originally thought?
We need him if l’OM is going to make a serious run for the championnat.
Brandao is NOT the answer. Or maybe he can only function with a lot of help up front.
Magnusson, is there an injury update and timetable you can post for us?
