Transfer Speculation: Joey Barton
By: Richard | August 22nd, 2012
There's A Storm Coming
You know when I first heard this rumor I didn’t know how exactly to feel about it. I would wager that the lot of you probably gasped in horror, what the hell is the club thinking? We want a player who is serving a lengthy ban, and is described as one of the dirtiest players in all of the premiership. Does anyone here remember the nightmare that was Ben Arfa? Barton in all honesty makes Ben Arfa look like a saint. Coincidentally last week I talked about how happy I was to hear us being linked with Emir Spahic, describing him as someone who “isn’t afraid to take a crazy tackle and spill some blood for the team.” Irony at its best right?
Word is Barton is to come on here on a season long loan and we sell Mbia to QPR for an embarrassingly ow price of £4.5m. Correct me if I’m wrong here but I believed the idea was to raise funds by the selling of key players. Not give them away in exchange for troublesome players. Even better the FA aware of how Barton is trying to head for the border to escape the law, has made it be known that they will do what they can to ensure his ban is upheld in France. While I’d imagine the LFP would ignore the FA’s requests you never know.
In the end I still don’t know what to think about all of this. We knew hard decisions and roster changes would happen it would be inevitable. To get rid of Mbia for next to nothing and bring in a player unproven in our league just doesn’t make sense to me. Like it or not though much like Azpi’s deal with Chelsea, this just seems inevitable.

around a month ago Mandanda said to the press that the fans should not worry cuz they got the same team who made it to the quarter finals of the CL last year but what i see now we sold 2 of our key players already soon, wvwn tho Diarra didnt live up to our expectations he was still a key member of the team. Mbia is gonna leave too, and marseille still havent recruited any decent player. I dont understand what’s goin on but if OM wannna stand any chance for the title this season they need to bring in some experienced midfielders along side Cheyrou also a good defender.

Can I just say what a relief it is to find someone who actually knows what they’re talking about online. You definitely know how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people need to read and understand this. I cant believe you’re not more popular because you definitely have the gift.
