The Worst: Cheyrou in Fitness Battle for Toulouse
By: Sarah | October 29th, 2009Cheyrou, our most consistent player and general star this season, may not be available for Deschamps to choose this weekend. He had an ultrasound on his leg on Tuesday after experiecning groin problems. The ultrasound revealed a slight lesion on his right adductor muscle.
The club is reporting that he should be able to start training with the group on Friday, but it is unclear if he will be able to play this weekend (Toulouse) or next Tuesday (Zurich).

Woohoo! We need all the help we can use!
I still think Cheyrou is one of the most underrated players. Most fans outside of Ligue 1 don’t even know who he is, which is a shame.

@Dave: He is amazing. I wish he received the praise/attention he deserves, but to be honest if he did he probably would have left OM a while ago for a bigger club so I can’t complain too much…

Domenech should pick him. He will be able to link up our defense and attack really well. I think if he becomes highly rated now he will stick with OM. Just like Niang he is too old for bigger clubs to invest in. We still can’t rule out Milan or Juve!

Anytime people talk about Cheyrou they are usually talking about Bruno but Benoit is really the better of the two imo. All in all a blow like this is huge but a good chance for Ben Arfa or Valbuena to shine

Ugh, I always like opportunities for Ben Arfa to play– but I hate that this is the potential trade off. Depressing.

I’m surprised he’s never received a call-up for the national team. Then again with Domenech, Cheyrou’s astrological sign is probably not in alignment with the Raymond’s star charts.
I know Valbuena can step up, but HBA, in my opinion, doesn’t inspire confidence (sorry again, Sarah).
Here’s to a speedy recovery for Cheyrou and the rest of the injured..

The criticism of consistency is valid– but I hope it isn’t always true. As for Valbuena, let’s just hope that if DD does choose him that he doesn’t injure himself within the first 5 minutes again…

I don’ think HBA has been given a good run of matches to prove himself this season. Whenever he has come on he has looked dangerous.
