Samir Nasri is playing with my emotions…
By: Magnusson | January 10th, 2008
Samir Nasri was yesterday afternoon the guest in Luis Fernadez’s show on RMC and he had some time to answer a few questions, rumors, the mercato, his health and his future at Marseille (or not?). He answered Luis Fernandez and Didier Deschamps’s questions with a lot of honesty and candor.
Now a lot of stuff has been said about Samir’s season so far and he himself asked for health. He said that “[his] progression has been linear so far and I’ve never missed this many matches because of health issues” remembering that he got injured against Bordeaux in the pre-season and then got injured because he came back too fast. Add to that his meningitis-like flu, his two returns where he got hurt again, he himself said that he was only decent for bout ten games this year. Which is a good thing to devellop his mental abilities. Everyone, wether they are France or Marseille fans want Samir to have a healthy second half of the season so that both Marseille and the French NT can take advantage of the kid.
Now the thing that scared me is that Samir seemed a lot less certain when talking about his future at the club. As much as he was sure he’d be there for the next two years at the beginning of the season, he doesn’t seem to be so sure these days. When asked how he felt about the new generation that did not necessarily want to leave for the sake of it, he concurred but when they asked him if he would be in Marseille same time next year, Samir said that he didn’t know.
Comparing his case with Karim Benzema’s he said “Karim is going to be champion for the third time this yer and already knows he’ll be playing in the Champions League regardless next year. This is not sure for me and sometimes you need to grow because a career exists”. Meaning: Karim Benzema can stay at Lyon and grow but if we don’t get to the Champions League, bye bye Marseille.
That’s how I analyze it. Even though he was not that sure he said tht he would definitly be thinkinbg about his future and that he wouldn’t be doing anything stupid. Speaking of his contract, he conceided that he was not the priority as Marseille needs to be recruiting a striker and that he belongs to the club at least until june 2009. Let’s just hope that marseille has the same second part we had last year. After all, we’re only 14 points behingd Lyon and seen as last year, ten games before the end, Lens who were second and 8 points ahead of us came and won At the Velodrome. After that game, Marseille won 8 games out of 10 and finished seven points in front of lens. Anything is possible in this league. But let’s just not think that Samir Nasri is a lock and lose him during the Euro.
I’m not worried yet, but I’ll sleep much better February 1st.
Just for kicks, here is the Luis Quizz.

He would never choose anything from Paris, but I am worried that he chose Barca over Madrid, even though Madrid wants him more…

Just before that they tried to know where he would like to go. So knowing he liked Spain, they asked him what was his favorite colors, and he said white/blaugrana. Causing hilarity in the studio.
BUt he obviously didn’t want to say Madrid because they had to bring Zidane up for like five minutes and you just felt he didn’t want to be compared even more with the legend. So he took some time to pick barcelona. I see him succeeding at Madrid much more.Posted from

Scary news: Arsenal are trying to poach your boy Ayew. See, that’s why I don’t like Wenger. He thinks all young talent is his personal property.

Seriously I don’t have a problem with Wenger. And mind you I’ve always been pissed at the Flamini situation and the Gallas shit as well but if you can’t keep your young players locked, it’s your fault. But Wenger has always believed in youth. I mean look at Anelka, even Luis Fernandez who discovered him and made him play first said he didn’t think it wad that big a deal when he went to Arsenal because they had so many other players in their youth teams that Paris didn’t care.
Wenger keeps clubs like Marseille, Monaco, Paris and Lyon on their toes, it’s a good thing.
NOw I don’t see Dédé ayew going there as quickly. Why? His dad Abédi. I won’t lose sleep over this.Posted from
