New uniforms unveiled…

As any other team in the world, Marseille has brand new uniforms for this season and they are changing a bit from last season’s. First of all, NEUF Télécom will no longer be the main sponsor as Robert Louis-Dreyfus’s other company will take over.
Created in 2003, DIRECT ENERGIE is an alternative electricity provider in France who mainly works with professionals and is trying to get into the home owner’s game (as it is open since july 2007).
This company is supposed to produce “Green” and cheaper electricity (now, how the hell do you produce green energy? I have no idea!). No matter how cheap the energy was before this, it’s going considerably more expensive as their presence on the constant best seller in terms of jerseys will boost its notoriety.
Now the really cool thing about this partnership that even the most jaded people won’t be able to deny is the fact that as long as Marseille and Direct Energie will be partners, every goal scored at the Vélodrome, Direct energy vowed to plant 50 trees. Very cool initiative.
And as you may have guessed, this is the last time I’ll ever be talking about Direct Energie.
Now about the jersey itself, it is a very simple and classy jersey (I’m still dreaming of the day we are rich enough or get to the Socios system where the fans would own the team and marseille plays with a blank jersey.). The only notable difference being the city’s crest embroidered on the right pectoral. The idea is apparently to show how entangled with each other the team and the city are.
«Actibus immensis urbs fulget Massiliensis» which roughly translates into «The city of Marseille shines through its high actions», is the city’s motto and will be on the collar as well as on the crest itself.

I like the idea of having the city logo on the shirt. Overall the shirt looks ok. It is a little too simple. Not much creativity involved. The blue away jersey looked awesome.

Aditya – The away jersey is insane. Best jersey of the season hands down.
Rami – BUy one then!
Sinan – The direct Energie logo does suck. BUt what I’m happy about is that they didn’t comeup with the whole thing. It normally has a bright yellow and orange sun in the back. I was happy they didn’t incorporate that.

I like the concept of incorporating the City motto, but that’s about it. The Direct Energie logo is an abomination. Now show us the Champions League shirt M!!!

Hold it!!! Looks like Civelli is modelling the new UCL shirt on OM.net!!! I’ll stick with the 3rd shirt I think.
