Marseille 1 - 2 Toulouse, the video….
By: Magnusson | September 17th, 2007
Sorry for the lack of updates but there were some technical difficulties on my end these last few days. Marseille played against Toulouse last saturday afternoon at the very unusual time of 5 P.M. and were very decided to get their first victory at home against a team whose last win in the Velodrome went back to the 1963/1964 season. Everybody was quite sure marseille was about to destroy a Toulouse team who were still not recovering from the spanking they were given at Anfield Road. The game didn’t go as planned, Emana and Elmander crucifying Steve Mandanda twice in the first half, our captain of the day Julien Rodriguez being sent off in the second period as our team was so transparent we still wonder how Toulouse didn’t score many more goals.
Roanld Zubar managed to score at the last minute though. That must count for something right?
Here is the video for the Marseille Toulouse game.
I’m still hesitant of calling it a disgrace. I really don’t want to knock on the team because I really wish Emon stays as a coach because he’s proven all of last season that he was a great leader. But at the same time, the Didier Deschamps rumours are kinda titillating. We seem to have had too much bad luck for it to last. Zenden and Ziani are shadows of their former selves and both are apparently exhausted by this summer’s training program. Samir Nasri is just now starting to get better and the Cana Cheyrou pairing can’t go on forever being this approximative. I just don’t know how thismany talented players couldnot make a great season. Now that the Champions League is starting, I hope the Marseille press just leaves everyone the fuck alone and lets them work. Djibril Cissé has surprisingly been spared by the same people who were requesting his head last year. And he’s been pretty vocal about his ambition for the club. This is just the beginning. Let’s not forget that we had seven victories in a row last year before going on two consecutive five-game losing streaks and winning seven to get this damn seconfd place at the last round. I for one will sign instantly for the same season. This team is better than last year’s and I believe the only mistake the staff has made so far was to get rid of the Captain Habib Beye who was the heart and soul of this team. We’ll know how big a mistake that was when all is said and done at the end of this season.
