Welcome to SURFACE Magazine.

By: Magnusson | November 23rd, 2008

SURFACE Magazine is the latest of French soccer magazines and will be more of a lifestyle publication focused on soccer. Their first issue features Lorik Cana or Mathieu Valbuena wearing respectively the gangster outift and our Champions League jersey. The pictures inside are beautiful and the articles are smart. It’s a little thin and has room to grow but it’s nice to see a magazine that has some kind of ambition in terms of visuals and content. Even though So Foot is still the undisputed best publication here, this one will sure give them a run for their money.

Great pics, do you know if there’s a way to get it outside of France?

Also, here’s a promo/behind-the-scenes video of the shoots for the first issues:

Thanks, Aaron. I’m watching on Setanta — every once in awhile they throw Ligue 1 fans a bone and show a good game.

And that second goal was UGLY.

Do you mean a Setanta stream or on a TV? I agree about the second goal. The OM defense is crap.

hello magnusson, first: this blog is very interesting etc.
Secondly: especially this post is interesting at the moment: http://marseille.theoffside.com/french-ligue-1/pape-diouf-they-hate-each-other-its-hardly-news.html

It’s about the younger players being brats towards the veterans. And in the comments you (magnusson) wrote this:
“Henry has a seat in the bus of the Team and when he wanted to get to his, Benzema told him to go sit elsewhere. Aside from that, after the second game, he was so pissed he started criticizing Henry and Thuram, to what Makélélé told him to shut the fuck up and thn Thuram gave him the nickname Benarfa for his constant whining.
And the fact that he’s constantly with Nasri not trying to fit in made him quickly very unpopular. These things would have never happened a year ago.”

it’s interesting because I think it’s true, but could you say the source to me? because Gallas just released his autobiography where he wrote about that Bus-part, while you revealed this months ago before Gallas and the press did. could you please give the source, it would be very useful to me if i write about gallas :)

Hi JP. Thanks for the props.
About the bus part I didn’t even know Gallas was talking about it in his book. The truth is I haven’t been following football outside of Marseille much for the past few weeks. But i’d really like to know what he says in detail about the incident.
As for the source, what can I say? I have a few of my friends who are sports journalists and who have “off the reocrd” interviews and conversations with some players. One of them told me about the bus thing and I said it in my blog with his permission. But I couldn’t tell you who it is nor where he works.
I think you’ll have to trust me on this one or ask me via email later and I’ll gladly tell you “off the record” as well. But I’m just glad that information checked out four months later.
    I’m sure you understand.

cool, thanks a lot:D that off the record would be very interesting:D(and sad because there is no team chemistry)
cool that you got sport journalists friends who talk to Les Bleus, really cool
I was really impressed that you know that information before the whole world knew,
This is the link about Gallas autobiography, where he writes about bust-ups with Samir Nasri (and the famous part about the fabulous bus-seat of Thierry Henry)

Maybe this is of interest to some Marseille fans: a holographic Steve Mandanda posing around in an adidas shop window.
