Akalé, Oruma and Krupoviesa are gone…
By: Magnusson | May 20th, 2008
In an attempt to make sure the squad is made of “great players” who can handle the pressure, Eric gerets decided to let go of players who have not been entirely staisfactory this season.
Wilson Oruma has not been playing for the last two seasons and despite a lot of offers last year, he decided instead to stay because of the opportunity of playing the Champions League. At only 31, Oruma has had a few contacts with English, Turkish and Middle eastern clubs in the past.
Gauthier Kanga Akalé is going back to Lens. The ex-Auxerre player did not convince Eric Gerets. I personally believe he’s a terriffic player who’s not made for Marseille. Thankfully for him, a lot of clubs still remember his last year at auxerre and I bet he finds a club before the Euros start.
As for Juan Angel Krupoviesa, his biggest gift to the team was to have transformed Taye Taïwo extremely quickly. Coming back from the African Cup of Nations, Taïwo was benched and worked so hard that he took his spot back and never left it. At the end of the season, he was elected best left-back of the Ligue 1 by his peers. As for Krupoviesa, he’s going back to Argentina for good. In 6 games, he showed very interesting things but didn’t show enough to put Taye’s spot in danger.
Now we’re going to wait for the nearly sure departures of Carasso, M’bami and even Nasri.

I just hope that by some miracle Nasri stays at least one more season.

They better sign some good players in this mercato that will take Marseille to at least second round of UCL.
